Q6. Mention the design steps of a de-sanding basin for a river with high sediment load. Discuss the factors that influence the sediment velocities and the methods used for flushing sediments from the de-sanding basin. [10 Marks]

Q7. What do you mean by concrete gravity dams? With a neat sketch, show the different forces acting on it. How do you check the stability of dam against sliding and overturning? [10 Marks]
