This is  official Civil Engineering Loksewa Exam Question Paper (Seventh Level) conducted by Pradesh Lok Sewa Aayog. The paper includes questions from soil mechanics, slope stability, earthquake safety, hydropower, highways, pavements, waterlogging, waste management, and environmental engineering (EIA/IEE).


📌 Section – A (Marks: 25)

Q1. A soil sample has an initial volume of 200 cm³ and a void ratio of 0.4. After a compaction test, the soil's void ratio is reduced to 0.2. Calculate the final volume of the soil sample in cubic centimeters, assuming no change in its mass. [5 Marks]

Q2. Discuss the causes of slope failures. Explain the concept of bioengineering and its advantages in slope stabilization in Nepal's challenging terrains. [3+3.5+3.5 Marks]

Q3. Write down the typical earthquake safety measures mentioned in the Building Code. How should the safe management of wastewater be ensured in Building Codes? [7.5+2.5 Marks]

Q4. What is a water hammer? What is its significance in system design? [2+3 Marks]

Q5. Explain the suitability, advantages, and limitations of run-off river (ROR) and peaking ROR storage hydropower projects with examples. [5+5 Marks]

Q6. Explain the concept of waterlogging. What are the causes of waterlogging? Discuss in detail the precautionary measures for controlling waterlogging. [2+3+5 Marks]

Q7. Enlist the requirements of highways. Write the process of detailed engineering survey of highway alignment. [2+3 Marks]

Q8. A highway curve with a radius of 500 meters is designed for a design speed of 80 km/h. Calculate the required superelevation (banking) of the curve, assuming a coefficient of lateral friction between tires and road surface of 0.15. [10 Marks]

Q9. Discuss the different types of maintenance operations for flexible pavements. [10 Marks]
